WORKING NITROGEN

CENTURO™ Urea STABILISED NITROGEN FERTILISER
CENTURO™ nitrogen stabiliser from Koch Agronomic Services is a next-generation nitrification inhibitor featuring the patented active ingredient, Pronitridine. CENTURO offers highly effective below-ground protection against leaching and denitrification.
WHAT IS A NITRIFICATION INHIBITOR?
Nitrification inhibitors slow the conversion of ammonium to nitrate. In the
nitrate form, nitrogen is susceptible to leaching and denitrification.
By slowing the nitrification process, more nitrogen is kept in a stable form for
longer, making it more readily available for when plants need it.
CENTURO slows the conversion of ammonium to nitrate and can hold the
nitrogen in ammonium form three times longer than without an inhibitor.
Three key benefits of a highly effective nitrification inhibitor
Minimise nitrogen loss from leaching and denitrification
Optimise nitrogen use efficiency & yield
Reduce nitrous oxide emission potential
HOW IT WORKS IN THE SOIL
When urea or other nitrogen containing fertilisers are applied to the soil, much of the nitrogen converts or transforms to ammonium. In this form, nitrogen is readily available for uptake by the crop. Ammonium will then convert to nitrate in about two weeks depending on the soil type and temperature. Slowing the conversion of ammonium to nitrate is key to preventing nitrogen loss – ammonium will bind to the soil whereas nitrate can move with water and is prone to loss through leaching and denitrification.
